Friends of the Oakland Animal Shelter

Help us provide homes, health, and happiness for the animals at Oakland Animal Services. Your donation will fund projects like the following:

Health: After being at Oakland Animal Services for 6 months, Natalie tore a cruciate ligament in her leg. FOAS paid for surgery to repair her leg and helped place her in a foster home so she could recover. 

Homes: Dominic was at Oakland Animal Services for over 200 days. A middle-aged pit bull with skin issues, he got overlooked again and again. Finally an adopter was found for him - but in Colorado! FOAS covered the cost of transporting him and off he went to his new home! 

Happiness: Dog playgroups can make all the difference in how well a dog tolerates being kenneled in the shelter. FOAS has paid for several trainings for staff and volunteers to learn how to safely and successfully lead dog playgroups at OAS.

Foster Program: One of the major projects we have funded this year is the new foster program, which gets underaged kittens, long-term dogs, and animals in need of medical treatment out of the shelter and into a home environment until they are ready for adoption.
