Alfie Spent 3 YEARS Outside

Alfie wandered up to a very rural trailer park community and never left. He was a bit shy but friendly but has literally lived outside the last 3 years...until today. Our Trails UP team was on the ground at this location to assist 150 cats when they met him. He was filthy with years of dirt and motor oil on his body and he had a visible infected skin patch, likely from fleas. They took the time to sit down and coax him towards them by offering crackers and then wet dog food. A moment allowed for them to slip a leash over his head and while he flailed and got really spooked, he never growled or bit...and eventually he calmed down so they could pick him up and get him in the car.

He is positive for heartworm which is no surprise since he's lived outdoors with no vetting whatsoever for years. He needs funds to get him vaccinated, neutered and the high cost for heartworm treatment while we work on socializing him and hopefully getting him into foster and ready for adoption.
