URGENT: REAL TIME ORPHANED KITTEN & PUPPY RESCUE
Today has been no quiet day. We have received TWO heartbreaking urgent calls for our team to make split decisions that truly determine if tiny animals live or die.
First, our partners in Galax contacted us about 5 puppies who are only 3 weeks old whose mother was hit and killed by a car, leaving them alone and without any means to survive. We do not know why the mom's elderly owner was letting her in the road, especially with babies. But she was run over and killed and an entire family now faces a horrible fate if we cannot step in. They will require around-the-clock bottle feeding for the next 3 weeks. And then, if we can get them to survive, we'll start the process of getting them medically in shape with vaccines and dewormings and the proper nutrition, in hopes they can find loving adoptive homes. We know their sweet momma would have wanted that for them
Secondly, just minutes ago, we were asked to take in 4 2-week old orphaned kittens who were found and brought to the Danville shelter. With no means to care for babies who will also require around-the-clock care, they would have quickly been euthanized. Our tireless work in Danville however resulted in them reaching out to us to ask if we can save them.
Our Danville team is working frantically this very minute to try and secure emergency bottle-feeding placement and supplies to keep these littles alive.
We CANNOT do this work without donations that support our staff, the supplies, the transport and the medical care. Emergencies like this are often so hard to plan for when shelters are full, fosters are full and it feels like we cannot squeeze one more animal in need into our program.
But we NEVER stop trying. We have to. If we don't, they simply have no chance and we know they deserve more. They deserve to be loved and to have the lives that all animals deserve.
