Senior Living on the Streets

This is Geoffrey. This poor old man is about 10 years old and has been "running" with a pack of local dogs who were all abandoned and no one took them in, so they found each other and formed a family. But some of the family members are jerks. Not their fault really as life without a home or knowing where your next meal comes from is hard. And sometimes it means you have to battle it out. 

As Geoffrey is the oldest of the bunch, the other dogs like to pick on him - which we don't think is nice or fair. And last week, they picked on him in a bad way. Thankfully, a nearby resident saw it happen and got Geoffrey away from them but too late to avoid the many bite wounds he got from the attack. 

He got to a nearby vet before he succumbed to the wounds and the heat. He's currently getting IV fluids to treat the wounds, vaccinated and some rest in the air conditioning. He's already tested positive for Lyme and anaplasmosis and both, while treatable, cause a lot of pain, especially when having to wander all day without a nice soft bed.

This guy cannot go back out to the pack or he'll be killed. The kind person who saw it was confident that if she had not intervened, he might have been killed that day.

We know a 10 yr dog is not for everyone but this boy is so sweet and deserves to spend his final years not fighting for his every meal, his every bowl of water and certainly not his life.

Geoffrey needs funding to get him neutered, tested and continue his medical care and then will need a foster asap.
