Rocky had surgery to repair a torn ligament! He was barely able to stand, and in such excruciating pain. We couldn't stand to see him suffer a moment longer.
The Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) is an important ligament of the knee joint, and any tear or damage to the CCL results in severe pain, even lameness. For dogs of Rocky's size, surgery to repair the damage is the only treatment available.
Before coming to Homeward Trails, Rocky lived his life on a chain outside. He endured harsh summers and cruel winters. He managed to survive with little to no human interaction. His life was a lonely, full of struggle. Day after day, with no hope in sight.
But then everything changed. He came to us, and we've been working with him nonstop. With our help, he has started to learn that some humans can be trusted--that there are people who want to help him, to love him. He's been living his very best life--that is, until he injured his knee!
Rocky hasn't always had the easiest life. Now that he's here, we just cant' bear to see him struggle anymore. We were determined to see his leg repaired, to see him back on all four feet so that someday soon, we might see him trotting off toward his loving, forever home.
