Sugar discharged.

Update posted 4 years ago

8.9.2021 -- Sugar was discharged from the vet and continues to recover. Licorice is still there, with a confirmed case of pneumonia.

Licorice still isn't eating on his own. He's so congested! The only thing keeping his little body going is the support care we're able to provide.

But we remain hopeful. We caught it even sooner than we did with Sugar, and are very optimistic for Licorice's recovery. He has started treatments. We just need to continue supportive care, giving his little body the help it needs to recover and bounce back. The real triumph will be when he feels well enough to start eating on his own again!

Sugar is one of Bubbles' kittens, rescued just last week from a shelter in rural West Virginia. Her litter mates seem to be fine, but Sugar is struggling. She is three weeks old, and right now, we're not sure the she'll live to see four weeks.

Sugar's medical chart is all over the place. She isn't gaining weight. Her eyes are bad. She has been diagnosed with pneumonia and a partial lung collapse. She is currently on IV fluids and antibiotics. We're doing everything we can to give her little body a chance to fight off whatever is holding her back, but the truth is that it may not be enough.

But Sugar isn't giving up, and we're not either. Your support will provide us with the funding we need to continue her treatments and provide whatever she needs to keep up the fight. With all of us rooting for her, she'll at least have a chance at life!
