LET’S BUILD IT.
Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter – North Texas Giving Day 2026
We have the land. We have the plans. We’ve raised nearly $1 million. Now we need your help to build it.
For 20 years, Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter has made the most of every inch of our current building. We have patched, rearranged, improvised and squeezed in “just one more” animal more times than we can count.
But there comes a point when making it work is no longer enough.
Our current shelter simply was not built for the number of animals we care for today — and many of the problems cannot be fixed with another repair, another kennel or another temporary solution.
Why We Need a New Shelter
When we say we have outgrown our building, it is true.
🐾 We run out of space.
Our dog runs regularly fill, and when intake is high, we have had to use crates and temporary spaces just to safely house everyone.
🏥 We do not have proper medical and recovery areas.
Our surgery space is extremely small, and there is no true dedicated recovery area for animals who need quiet, specialized care after procedures.
🦠 We lack proper isolation space.
Contagious illnesses are a reality in animal sheltering. Our current building makes separating sick animals from healthy animals much harder than it should be.
🧱 The building itself creates sanitation challenges.
Porous cinder-block walls, aging surfaces and an outdated layout make thorough cleaning and disease control more difficult.
🐶 There are no dedicated meet-and-greet rooms.
Families trying to choose their new pet deserve a calm place to connect with them — not a noisy hallway surrounded by barking dogs.
🔊 Noise and ventilation are constant challenges.
The layout allows sound to travel throughout the building, increasing stress for animals already adjusting to shelter life. Better ventilation is also desperately needed.
🚪 Our hallways and work areas are cramped.
Staff, volunteers, animals, supplies and adopters are all moving through the same limited spaces every day.
📦 Storage is limited.
Food, medical supplies, cleaning products, donations and everyday shelter necessities all have to fit wherever space can be found.
🚻 There are no public restrooms.
🚗 Parking, access and visibility are limited, and even a passing train can make reaching the shelter difficult at times.
None of these things are about making the shelter prettier. They affect animal health, stress levels, disease prevention, staff safety, adoptions and the quality of care we are able to provide.
What We’re Building Instead
Our new shelter is being designed around the animals and the people who care for them.
It will include indoor/outdoor dog runs, larger cat and kitten areas, dedicated isolation and recovery spaces, an improved surgery and medical area, adoption meet-and-greet rooms, outdoor play yards, better ventilation, improved storage and a layout designed for the day-to-day reality of animal sheltering. As well as space for spay/neuter clinics, and volunteers.
It means less stress. Safer medical care. Better disease control. A better adoption experience. And more room to help the animals who need us.
Look How Far We’ve Come
The land for our future shelter is ready. The plans are complete.
And through years of donations, fundraising and an incredible amount of community support, nearly $1 million of the approximately $2.5 million needed has already been raised.
That leaves about $1.5 million to go.
It is still a big number. But we are no longer standing at the beginning wondering whether this can happen.
It is happening!
Now we need our community to help us get it across the finish line.
This Is Why We’re Asking
Every animal that walks through the doors of Noah’s Ark deserves a clean place to sleep, room to decompress, proper medical care and the best possible chance of finding a family.
Our staff can continue finding creative ways to make an outdated building work. But our animals deserve more than “making it work.”
They deserve a shelter built for them.
We have the land.
We have the plans.
We have already raised nearly $1 million.
Now let’s build it. 🐾
