Leo Won't Be Safe Until He is Out of the Shelter

Leo is a 5 year old mixed breed boy who was found wandering alone in rural Virginia, and no one knows how long he had been out there trying to survive. Life as a stray is terrifying and unforgiving. Every day means dodging speeding cars, searching for scraps of food, finding a dry place to curl up when it rains, and never truly resting because danger is always close. Nights are the hardest. Cold, dark, and silent except for the sounds that make a lonely dog lift his head in fear. When Leo was finally found and brought to a rural shelter, it should have been the end of his suffering. But shelters like his have low adoption rates, and now he sits in a kennel where days blur together and hope slowly fades. No one has come for him. No one has asked about him. After surviving so much on his own, Leo is still not safe. Homeward Trails wants to step in and be his turning point, but they cannot bring him to safety without the funds to place him on the next transport north. This may be his only real chance at a new life. Please help us get Leo out of that shelter and into the future he has fought so hard to reach.
